What: With three minutes & three slides, pitch your innovative idea that creates a positive impact on science and society.
Who is eligible? Students, entrepreneurs, early-career researchers, and academics of all disciplines who have a connection to a hub of the Illinois Innovation Network. All students are eligible, and participants with degrees must be within five years of receiving their Ph.D., within seven of receiving their master’s degree, or within 10 of receiving their bachelor’s degree.

- FWLab Illinois: All-Expenses-paid trip to the Falling Walls Lab finale in Berlin, Germany, November 8-9.
- FWLab Grand Prize: Top 3 ideas receive prize money, the title “Falling Walls Young Innovator of the Year,” and get to pitch their idea to the entire Falling Walls Conference.

About Falling Walls Lab — Illinois
Falling Walls Lab — Illinois is a competition for the state of Illinois that will feed into an international event titled Falling Walls Lab. Falling Walls Lab is a pitch competition held in early November each year in honor of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and is affiliated with the Helmholtz Association, which is analogous to our National Science Foundation. The participants for the global finale in Berlin are selected through a series of satellite competitions across the world.
Falling Walls Lab is a competition where participants have three minutes and three slides to convince a panel of judges that their breakthrough idea will have a positive impact on science and society. The winner of the Falling Walls Lab – Illinois competition will receive a trip to the FWL global finale in Berlin in early November. The top three finishers at the global finale will receive prize money, will be named “Falling Walls Young Innovator of the Year” and will present their idea to the entire Falling Walls Conference.
